Android is all about open source and freedom. To enjoy that, you must root your Android phone. In this guide, I’ll explain and guide you through the process of rooting your Android device the simple way. In this post, I’ll show you how to root any Android phone without a computer/pc!

Rooting an Android phone, with modifications to the Android OS, and among other things are considered a very high level hacking method by some people and some are also frightened by the word root (yeah, some people!). Well, Rooting is not that high level, it’s just the tip of the iceberg!

How to root any android phone without computer?

#1 Using TowelRoot

Step 1

Make sure your device is having battery remaining more than 50%. Yeah, just to make sure you don’t get stuck while doing the process.

Step 2

Go to towelroot.com and download the apk. To download it, just touch the ‘Lambda – λ’ on the website.

towelroot website screenshot

Step 3

After the download is finished, Open the apk file either by touching on the ‘Download Complete’ notification or by navigating to the download folder and opening the file. Install the apk.

If you’re side loading an apk for the first time, follow these instructions. Btw, side loading means installing an application in your Android device by installing apk of the application.

  1. Go to the Settings on your Android device.
  2. Select Security, and check the Unknown Sources. A pop up will be shown saying that “Your phone and personal data are…blah blah blah”, just click OK for that to install apk files.how to root any android phone without pc
  3. Open the apk file, press Install when prompted.

Step 4

After installing, run the application. There is only one option available on this application. That is the ‘Make it Ra1n’. Click on the button. And you’re done. Now your phone will be rooted and will be provided with superuser access.

towelroot app screenshot

Step 5

Now, go to play store and download a root checker app, which basically checks if your device has proper root access. Use root checker basic, which gets the job done easily. Download Root Checker from here.

root checker basic

To verify the Root, Open the Root Checker Basic and press the “Verify Root” button on the app. It will return a message in green saying that “This device has Root Access” if it found proper root access. If no proper root access is found, the message will be in red stating otherwise.

Step 6

But wait. You are not done yet. There is some job remaining. You have to download a superuser management application from Play store. If you don’t know what is that, it is simply an application which manages which apps should be granted superuser permissions. After all, you Don’t want any malwares and adwares to have superuser access. I suggest you should go with SuperSU by chainfire. It is the best and most downloaded superuser management application.

UPDATE :

If this did not work with your device, you can try Towelroot Modstrings, which is a small script which makes Towelroot default settings to work with any device. The procedure is given below :

  1. Tap on ‘Welcome to towelroot v3’ three times.
  2. You’ll see an input box now, here, type in the following:
    1337 method(0-3), align(0-1), limit_offset(0-8191), hit_iov(0-7), temp_root(0-1)

Here’s a video of Towelroot in action, take a look :

If this didn’t work, we have made this post even better with more methods to root android without computer/pc. Read on!

#2 Using FramaRoot

FramaRoot is an app that can root your Android phone with a single click and works mainly on MediaTek based devices. It works flawlessly for most of the devices, but you can also try it on other devices based on SoC other than MediaTek. Personally, I used this app to root phones such as Gionee Pioneer P2 and some Micromax devices. It worked perfectly and root was obtained in a click.

Steps to use Framaroot :

root android without computer framaroot

  1. Download and install the Framaroot APK from this link.
  2. In the app, there will be an drop down menu in which there are three different options, which are :
    • Install Superuser
    • Install SuperSU
    • Unroot
  3. Select Superuser or SuperSU as per your choice. If you don’t have any clue on that, Superuser and SuperSU are two both root management apps which manages which apps should be given root access. You can select any of them, although I prefer SuperSU.
  4. Next is to select the exploit which is to be used to root the phone. You can select and try with any of the option available, as it differs from phone to phone.

#3 Using KingRoot

KingRoot is another famous app that promises to root with a single click! KingRoot has two versions, both Android app and a PC version. The Kingroot Android app can root most of the Android phones, if supported by it. But in case if your phone isn’t supported by it, you can try to root with the Kingroot PC version.

Steps to root with Kingroot :

how to root android without pc

  1. Download and install Kingroot Android app in your phone/tablet. Open the KingRoot app.
  2. In the app, you’ll see that Kingroot is analyzing your device.
  3. After the analyzing, you’ll see a button saying “Start Root“, click on that.
  4. Kingroot will now try to root your device, wait a few minutes. If the process was successful, you’ll see a big green tick mark. If not, you might have to use Kingroot PC software to root your android.

Note : These One-click root apps might not work out of the box on Motorola phones such as Moto X, Moto G, Moto E, etc. Motorola phones should be bootloader unlocked first to be rooted.

So that’s it guys. That was the various methods by which you can root android phone or tablet without pc or computer. Please let us know if this worked for your device by commenting below. If it didn’t, we’ll try hard to find a way to root your device! We’re waiting for your replies!

The app covers most of the basic file managing operations, and now with it’s latest update comes a whole lot of new features, out of which the “Hide & Encrypt folders” features is an exclusive one and you’ll not find this option on any other file manager app in WP.

How To Remove Write Protection From SD Card & Pendrive

Gadgetraid.com - Gadgets, Smartphones, Reviews, Exclusive leaks and more!

Often, when you are trying to use an SD card, you get an error message which says that the disk is write protected and hence you cannot perform the basic functions such as copying, deleting, etc. hence, here are three simple ways by which you can remove write protection from SD card or Pendrive.

To start with, here are the three ways for removing write protection on an SD card.

By unlocking the SD card

The first and foremost thing to consider while removing write protection is to make sure your SD card isn’t locked. Here is how:

  • Keep the SD card on your palm or any given flat surface. Make sure the label faces on the upside.
  • On the upper left side, you will find a lock switch on the SD card. It is generally a tiny silver or white tab and your are to just slide is from the left.
  • For those using a micro or mini SD card, you will have to insert the SD card into an adapter and unlock the tab on the same. For micro and mini SD cards, there are no switches on the SD cards itself.
  • Once you are done with the sliding the lock up part, your write protection is now gone.

This one only applies to SD Card, to remove write protection from pen drive follow the steps given below (2 methods).

Formatting with Windows

Another plausible option if the former fails to work up. Here are the steps you need to follow for the same:

  • With the help of the adapter, insert the SD into your windows computer.
  • On the Start windows, right click on the computer option.
  • You need to now choose the option which says “Manage” from the list given to you. Having done that, a manager window is displayed.
  • Now go the “Disk Management” option right below storage option on the left pane of computer management. The devices in use are displayed in the middle pane as of now.
  • Now, with a right click on the storage device you want to format, select “Format.”
  • With a click on “OK”, your SD card is now formatted as well as the write protection removed from your disk.

Formatting with Mac OS X

  • Insert the SD card into your computer with the help of an adapter or reader.
  • Go to the applications on your MAC.
  • Scroll down to the end and look up for “Utilities.”
  • From here, select disk utilities.
  • Located the name of your SD card in the list on the left pane.
  • You will now find a tab in the name of “Erase” on the top of the utility window.
  • Go to MS-DOS file system or exFAT next to the “Volume Format” from the dropdown menu.
  • Go to the “erase” button and you have successfully formatted the contents present on your SD card.

So these were the three possible methods by which you can remove write protection from your SD card or Pendrive. Hope this helped; you can thank us later!

How to Unlock an Android Device with a Broken/Cracked Screen?

Gadgetraid.com - Gadgets, Smartphones, Reviews, Exclusive leaks and more!

Oh! Was your Android phone’s screen broken? It hurts, I know. As the touch screen is the only way to control your phone, it’s like a world-ending-feeling for you. Still a question remains unanswered. Why do you want to unlock the phone with a broken screen? Obviously, it’s for backing up the data on it.

You might have banged your head many times for breaking the phone’s screen. Anyway, it’s gone. So, we need a method to unlock the phone for backing up the saved data.

Don’t worry, I am here with two simple ways to unlock an Android device with a cracked or broken screen. Are you ready to secure your data? Here we go.

Method One: Using Android Debug Bridge

Android Debug Bridge is a command line tool, which lets you communicate with your phone through a computer. It’s commonly used by developers. You need a computer, micro USB cable and Android SDK to proceed with this. Most importantly, USB Debugging option on your phone should already be turned on. This method will not work with this option turned off.

Step 1 : At first, visit this link to download Android SDK files. Make sure to download the correct file that is compatible with your computer. (If you have a 32- bit machine, download 32- bit item or else go with 64- bit).

Step 2 : Connect your Android device with the computer using a Micro USB cable. And, open command prompt (Ctrl+ R > type CMD > Enter). Change the directory to where the SDK files located. Most probably the location is platform tools in Android folder. So, the command should be,

cd C:/android/platform-tools

Step 3 : Type the following command and press Enter. If your device gets detected, you will see some numbers on the command prompt window.

adb devices

Step 4: Again, enter the following two commands to the window. You have to type the second immediately after the first one. And, replace 6789 with the phone password (if you use password as a locking option).

adb shell input text 6789
shell input keyevent 66

If this process gets succeeded, your phone will be unlocked at once. Hurray! You can start taking backups now.

Method Two : Using a Mouse

Oops! What if the above method will not work for you? Or, what if USB Debugging on your phone is not turned on?

Then, you have only one option left. That’s to use a mouse. This method only works with the devices supporting USB OTG. (That means, you have to check if your device supports USB OTG by default and you need an OTG cable).

Step 1 : Plug in an OTG cable into the micro USB port on your device. (OTG cable is too cheap, that you can get one for even $5).

Step 2 : Insert a USB mouse into the other part of the cable. If your device supports USB OTG, you will surely see a mouse pointer under the broken stripes of your screen. Use the same to unlock your phone. That’s all. If you don’t have both mouse and OTG cable, borrow them from your friend or relative.

Wrapping Up

Maybe your phone has no problems now. But it does not guarantee that the same will not fall ever. Prevention is better than cure. So, turn on the USB Debugging option on your Android device. That’s a small precaution to recover and unlock your Android device if the screen gets broken or cracked! Do it right now, yeah NOW!

Also, use gadgets with utmost care. Always, put them in safe places. Don’t place it carelessly at the edge of tables or chairs. Why because the above- given methods may not work with your device. So, it’s important to avoid getting your phone screen broken. And you may buy a tempered glass screen guard for your phone, which can help your phone’s screen withstand some hard drops.

Most of all, Handle your gadgets gently.

Screen Overlay Detected Error : How to Fix It Easily?

Gadgetraid.com - Gadgets, Smartphones, Reviews, Exclusive leaks and more!

So you just came across a pop up showing “Screen Overlay Detected“, and you’re wondering what to do and how to rectify it, aren’t you? You’ve come to the right page, we’ve got a complete fix on how to rectify this error and you can enjoy the app you’re trying to start!

Screen Overlay Detected Error : How to Fix It?

Screen Overlay Detected : What is it?

First let’s talk about what is “Screen Overlay” in Android, so that you’ll get a good idea on what the hell is happening!

Starting with Android Marshmallow, a small error started to pop up, “Screen Overlay Detected“, which will not allow some apps to open/run. That makes it a real pain in the a$$.

Android has introduced this new feature, “Draw over other apps“, in Marshmallow & Nougat, which allows some apps to “draw” over other apps. Which basically means the app can show info on top of other apps. For example, Facebook Messenger uses this feature for their chat heads to be shown over other apps. And the famous Twilight app makes the screen reddish by using the same feature.

Now when installing new apps, sometimes Android will show the pop up “Screen Overlay Detected“. That’s because some apps which “Draw over other apps” permission enabled is running on background or foreground.

Actually, this is an extra security measure from Android, to stop some rogue apps you may have mistakenly installed from any sources other than Play Store, from taking advantage of the default Android settings.

These apps may (or can) do unwanted things when the overlay is running and asking for permissions. Android is not going to allow this, so the Screen Overlay Detected error pop up will be shown.

But there’s nothing to worry, this is a normal thing and it persists in Android as a security feature, and is shown to people running Android Marshmallow and above.

Screen Overlay Detected : How to solve the error?

Method 1

  1. First and foremost thing to avoid this Screen Overlay Detected error is to exit the apps that are having Screen Overlay or floating windows.
  2. Apps such as Facebook Messenger, Twilight, Lux, Internet Speed Meter, Clean Master, etc. are the main cause in this case, as they’ll always be having screen overlay option enabled.
  3. If you’re having any of these apps and they’re running (like Messenger chat head or Twilight filter), simple fix would be to exit the app before installing any new app or after it asks to disable Screen Overlay.

Bonus Tip : Uninstall Clean Master, DU Speed Booster, Go Speed & other cleaners and speed boosters from your phone. Not only they can be causing screen overlay detected pop up every damn time, they’ll be actually the apps that are causing more battery drain and ram usage. Oh by the way, the data they show cleaned are mostly fake and RAM cleaning is not required for Android (I’ll talk about this in a different post:) ).

This works only if you know which app is causing the screen overlay problem, and if you’re not sure about that, you can follow the next method given below.

Method 2

In this method, we’re going to disable all the screen overlays by all apps all together to run your new app for the first time. So when screen overlay detected pop up is shown in an app, follow the below given steps :

  1. Open Settings by clicking on the gear icon in notification bar.
  2. Scroll down, you’ll find the “Apps” option. Click on that.screen overlay detected step 1
  3. Now click on the gear button on top right, as given in this image.screen overlay detected step 2
  4. In this screen. you’ll find “Draw over other apps”, click on that.screen overlay detected step 3
  5. You can alternatively find this option by searching the “Settings” menu for “Draw”. You can just click on the magnification glass icon on the top right on the Settings menu for that.screen overlay detected step 4
  6. Now, in the “Draw over other apps” screen, you can see the apps which are having the Screen overlay/Draw over other apps permission.screen overlay detected step 5
  7. You can click on each app and uncheck “Permit drawing over other apps”.screen overlay detected step 6
  8. Now, clear the app you were trying to run from “Recents screen” and open the app again, you’ll not see the “Screen Overlay Detected” again!
  9. One more step is left, that is to reactivate the screen overlays that you’ve disabled before. Just go back to the “Draw over other apps” settings from recents and recheck all the apps you’ve disabled. Else, you won’t be able to use those apps.

Additionally, if you find some unknown apps in there, you know what to do, uninstall them!

These steps are for stock Android (Nexus, Moto, and more). For Samsung & LG the options are little changed, but you can find the “Draw over other apps” option by using the search in settings.

Conclusion

Hope these methods worked out for you, and now you can enjoy the apps you were trying to install without worrying about the screen overlay detected pop up ever again! Do share this page with your friends, if they’re also facing the same issue when installing new apps. Peace!

How to Fix DNS Probe Finished No Internet Error Easily

Gadgetraid.com - Gadgets, Smartphones, Reviews, Exclusive leaks and more!

It was a normal day, I woke up and started my work on my lappy. I opened Chrome, but to my frustration, I was greeted with “DNS Probe Finished No Internet” or “DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET” error on Google Chrome. I was connected to my normal WiFi connection but didn’t understand why the error is showing. When I checked with my phone, connected to the same WiFi connection, it was perfectly working. So I understood that this was some problem with my laptop.

I tried to search online for a fix, stumbled up on some guides on “DNS Probe Finished No Internet“, but most of them was not complete. So I decided to write this guide as soon as I’ve fixed this issue. For me, the issue with my laptop was a simple DNS error, which I solved by changing the DNS on my laptop to Google DNS. I’ll explain the complete process later in this guide. But it can also be caused by some other small issues. I’ll also be walking you through all the methods by which you can solve DNS Probe Finished No Internet error on your PC running Windows 7, 8, 8.1 or 10 OS.

How to Fix DNS Probe Finished No Internet Error Easily

Here, I’ll show you many methods by which you can fix DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET error, that you’re currently facing on Chrome on your system. These are given in an ascending order of difficulty (at least for me 😛 ). So, be sure to try the next method if the first method doesn’t work for you.

Method 1: Change DNS to Google DNS (or OpenDNS)

This is the simple method, this worked well for me, possibly for you too. So basically, what you have to do is to change the DNS of your system to Google DNS.

Step 1

Go to Network Connection on your Windows PC. On Windows 10, you can easily go to that by right clicking on the Windows Logo & click on the Network Connections on that menu. On previous versions of Windows, you can go to Network Connections by opening Control Panel.

Step 2

Now right click on your Network connection icon (which you’re currently using) and click on Properties.

Step 3

Now find the “Internet Protocol Version 4” option and select it. Now click on Properties.

Step 4

Now you’ll see two options: ‘Obtain DNS server address automatically’ and ‘Use the following DNS server addresses:’. In this, any of the two will be selected by default. You’ve select ‘Use the following DNS server addresses’, and now you’ve to change the values in this field.

Step 5

In this preferred & alternate DNS server fields, use the following values :

  • Preferred DNS server: 8.8.8.8
  • Alternate DNS server: 8.8.4.4

Alternatively, you can also use OpenDNS. For that, use the following values:

  • Preferred DNS server: 208.67.222.222
  • Alternate DNS server: 208.67.220.220

Now click ‘OK’. That’s it.

DNS Probe Finished No Internet Error

Go back to your Chrome (close and start again if it’s open) and check if you’re able to connect to the Internet. If not, proceed to the next method to solve DNS Probe Finished No Internet error.

Method 2: Using Command Prompt to Reset DNS

You can use the command prompt in Windows to quickly solve this error. You can open command prompt by typing in ‘cmd’ in Windows search. Now press CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER to open command prompt as administrator. If it asks for administrator privileges, do sign in using the account on your system which have administrator rights.

Now you need to type in the following command in command prompt:

netsh winsock reset

Now press ‘Enter‘ key.

And restart your computer.

After reboot, check if your internet is working now, if not proceed to next method.

Method 3: Using Command Prompt to Release & Renew IP address

Go to command prompt with administrator rights. Follow the instructions given in the previous method to do so. In this method we release & renews the IP address that might be causing the issue.

When you’re in command prompt, type the following command:

ipconfig /release

Press the Enter key.

Now type in the next command:

ipconfig /renew

Press the Enter key

Note: There is a space between ipconfig & ‘/’ (the forward slash).

Next, you’ve to flush the DNS using the following command:

ipconfig /flushdns

After typing this command, press Enter key.

If it’s done, restart your computer. After the restart is complete, check if your system is able to connect to the Internet.

Method 4: Clear Cache in Chrome

You can try clearing cache in Google Chrome. To clear cache in Chrome, follow these steps:

Step 1

Click on the 3 dot menu on the top right corner. In that click on ‘Settings’

Step 2

Scroll down and you’ll find ‘Show advanced settings’, click on that. Now under ‘Privacy settings’, click on the ‘Clear Browsing Data’ option.

Step 3

Now check ‘Cookies and other site and plugin data’ and ‘Cached images and files’. Now press ‘Clear browsing data’.

How to Fix DNS Probe Finished No Internet Error

That’s it. Now restart Chrome and check if you’re able to connect.

Method 5: Reinstall Chrome or Try other browsers

If the method above didn’t work, you can try reinstalling Chrome and check if that solves the issue. If you don’t know how to uninstall an application in Windows, follow these steps:

The following steps will be for Windows 10.

Step 1

When you are connected to the internet you will come across various errors on Google Chrome in Windows because it is something usual. There are a great number of malware embedded in certain websites, and if you do not block the cookies and cache, then you may face a big problem while browsing. It is always necessary to download and install the songs, apps, and software from genuine and authorized sources only. But, there are certain errors which come along with a code such as the ones called “DNS_Probe_Finished_NxDomain” This error is usually related to the internet connection which occurs when there is blockage of data which is sent to your device in the form of signals.

In this post, we are trying to solve your problem, the infamous DNS Probe Finished NxDomain error. As these are predominantly seen in Chrome browser in Windows 7, 8, and 10 versions, we’re going to discuss the solution for just that.

How to Fix DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN Error

Method 1: Using Command Prompt to Reset DNS

Through this solution, we will be using some commands to reset the catalog IP and then renew it. Follow the below given steps for that:

  1. For this, you must open the command prompt by typing cmd in the search box of the Windows start menu.
  2. As soon as you see the option, you must right click on the option on the cmd.exe and choose the option ‘Run As Administrator.’ Or you can press CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER while clicking on the Command prompt icon.
  3. Now you’ll be in the command prompt.  Here, type in the following or command line or just copy and paste it from here into the command promptL
netsh winsock reset

Now restart your computer and see if the problem is gone or not. If not, proceed to the next method.

Method 2: Resetting Chrome To Default

This is an extremely easy method to fix this problem, and it has worked for most of the users. The process is simple. You must type “chrome://flags/” in the address bar of Chrome and hit the enter button. You will see a dialog box appearing in front of you and click on “Reset all to Default” option.

reset chrome

This button is located on right side of the page, and as soon as you click this option, you must restart your browser and see if the problem is gone.

Method 3: Manually Assign the DNS Server

Amongst all other solutions, this is considered as one of the most effective, and it has worked for most of the people facing the same error. In this situation, when the DNS server obtained by your computer does not respond, you are likely to get the “DNS_Probe_Finished_NxDomain” message in your window. In this case, you should try changing the DNS server address with the more reliable one such as Googles or OpenDNS.

  1. All you have to do is, right-click on the network icon which is located at the bottom right corner of your screen and then chooses the “Open Network and Sharing Centre.”
  2. Then you must click on the option that says “Local Area Connection” and then hit “Properties” option which is present at the bottom left corner of the dialog box.
  3. You will see that a new will pop up on your screen and there you must select the option “Internet Protocol Version 4” and then click the “Properties” option again.
  4. After that, you must select the radio button “Use The Following DNS Server Addresses” and then in the “Preferred DNS Server” box, type the following:
  • Preferred DNS server: 8.8.8.8
  • Alternate DNS server: 8.8.4.4

Alternatively, you can also use OpenDNS. For that, use the following values:

  • Preferred DNS server: 208.67.222.222
  • Alternate DNS server: 208.67.220.220

DNS Probe finished nxdomain

You will see an option that says “Validate Settings Upon Exit” and you must click the checkbox present beside it. Then you must click “OK” and ensure if the problem with the website is fixed or not. You can find out more about different DNS Server Addresses and use it when you face the same problem again while browsing.

Method 4: Disable Antivirus Firewall

Your Windows Operating System is by default embedded with Antivirus Firewall. When you enable this feature, it is likely to cause some hindrances in internet connection and create some issues related to it. In this situation, all you have to do is disable the firewall if you are using the feature and then try to browse the websites which showed such errors.

If you found that error was resolved, then can re-enable the antivirus or firewall again in your system. If you see the recurrence of this error, then you can try using a different antivirus or firewall program. There are many such programs available on the web, and you can find the most suitable one and install it for your system.

Method 5: Uninstall Website Filtering System

There are certain systems which have website filtering software installed in it. This might be one of the reasons behind the error as many websites are not compatible with every other website filtering software available in the market. You must try to disable the software or uninstall it and then check the functioning of that particular website. If you are still getting the same message, then you must try to fix this problem by a different method.

Method 6: Power Cycle Computer and Router

This may sound a bit meaningless, but it has worked in some cases. You should try to unplug your computer from the power source (even after turning it off) and leave it in the same condition for about 5 to 10 minutes. Try the same thing with your router to ensure that no left over charge is present and the memory is clear.

Other methods to fix this problem

Many people have found that due to the old version of network driver this problem occurred. So they tried updating the same, and the error was gone. However, updating the same with device manager is may not solve the issue so you must try downloading it from a different source.

Similarly, this error may occur due to the accumulation of browsing data. Hence, you can solve this by deleting your browsing data, cache, and cookies. You can also try connecting to that website through a browser other than Google Chrome.

Your WhatsApp files, Facebook media, and other documents will also hold much of your memory. The only solution you have is deleting your files regularly from time to time and free up space. Also, we cannot ignore the fact that recording videos and storing music files on your phone have become mandatory in today’s era. The backbone of all the smartphones having Android OS (Google’s Android, to be more precise 😉 ) is Google Play Service which has a huge collection of applications. One can depend on this for all types of apps, and this is something that cannot be replaced in the lives of Android Smartphone users. But the major drawback is when we continuously receive a pop-up message saying, “Unfortunately Google Play Service Has Stopped”. This causes a problem in the work when we are in urgent need of some mobile application. And, we have seen many people complaining about the repetition of this problem on their device. It is high time to fix this issue and let the users work in an easy manner. In this context, given below are some useful tips that will guide you about the fixation of this error in your device.

How To Fix Unfortunately Google Play Service Has Stopped

Solution 1: Update your Play Services

One of the major reasons behind repetition of this pop-up message on your device may be the outdated version of your Google Play Services. So, the simplest thing you can do to fix this problem is to update your Google Play Services app. Sometimes outdated software does not run properly on your device and shows error over and over again. So most probably by doing this, you can fix the problem.

You can update it by opening the Play Store on your phone and search for “Play services”, if you see the option to update the app, click on that, the app will be updated.

Solution 2: Force Stop & Clear Cache (1)

As already mentioned that Google Play Service is the backbone of your device and hence, it is the framework of all the Google and Google Play apps installed in your device. With time, it may collect caches in your device that will create a problem in using it properly. If your Google Play Services app is already updated and the problem is not solved, you can try clearing your cache. In most of the cases, this has helped in solving the problem. Read the steps given below to clear the cache for your Google Play Services.

  1. Go to settings and click on “Apps” section.
  2. Scroll down through all the apps and click “Google Play Services”.
  3. After opening the app details, click on the “Force Stop” option.
  4. Then you must tap on the option that says “Clear Cache”.

Solution 3: Force Stop & Clear Cache (2)

The Google Services Framework system app on your Android device is the one that stores all the important information and helps your phone to sync with Google and keep all your apps running up to date. With continuous use, even Google Services Framework app collects a lot of caches and it needs to be cleared. This may be one of the reasons for repetition of the pop-up message saying, “Unfortunately Google Play Services Has Stopped”. Because of caches, you may not be able to connect to Google servers properly, and this will cause the problem again and again. Given below are steps to clear cache from your Google Services Framework app.

  1. Go to setting and click on “Apps” option.
  2. Select the option “All Apps”, and scroll down through all the options until you find “Google Services Framework.
  3. Click on this option and then select the button “Force Stop.
  4. Then you must tap on the option “Clear Cache” and fix this bug.

Solution 4: Fix Wi-Fi issues

One of the major reasons behind the repeated appearance of this pop-up box may be your Wi-Fi connection. There are chances that your Wi-Fi may be blocking a particular IP address which is used by Google for syncing up with your device. Hence, if the above-mentioned solutions have not solved your problem, then you must try fixing up your Wi-Fi connection. You can switch off the Wi-Fi and then switch it on. Then you must go to Google Play Services and check if the problem is solved. You must try the same thing with mobile data and check if the problem is solved.

Solution 5: Just Reboot

This may seem like a usual advice and will sound least important, but one must always try this. Just like switching the mobile data or Wi-Fi connection on and off can solve the problem. You should try doing the same with your device. Yes! Rebooting your device can also fix this bug. This may sound simple, but sometimes there may be some repetitive blockage system that will cause problems. Switching off your device and then switching it on will fix this bug.

Solution 6: Try Custom Roms

Last but not the least, this is must try the solution that will fix the repetition of pop-up message. You just have to install a custom ROM that is stable and has no bugs included in it. There are several custom ROMs available in the digital marketplace which you can easily install on your device. (Related: Best Custom ROMs for Android)

You can get these ROMs for any Android 5.0 or Android 5.1 Lollipop custom firmware. Installing this ROM which is free from bugs will let you finish all your work in a smooth manner.

Solution 7: Sign out & sign in to your Google account

If the problem is still not fixed, then you can try this one solution that has worked in most of the cases. All you have to do is, remove your Google account from your device. Now you need re-enter all the details and once again add this account. Given below are steps to follow for doing this process.

  1. Go to settings and select the option that says “Google Accounts.

Step 3

After the download is finished, Open the apk file either by touching on the ‘Download Complete’ notification or by navigating to the download folder and opening the file. Install the apk.

Step 6

    • Unroot

Note : These One-click root apps might not work out of the box on Motorola phones such as Moto X, Moto G, Moto E, etc. Motorola phones should be bootloader unlocked first to be rooted.

remove write protection from sd card pendrive

Often, when you are trying to use an SD card, you get an error message which says that the disk is write protected and hence you cannot perform the basic functions such as copying, deleting, etc. hence, here are three simple ways by which you can remove write protection from SD card or Pendrive.

How To Remove Write Protection From SD Card & Pendrive

Unlock Android Broken Cracked Screen

Most of all, Handle your gadgets gently.

screen overlay detected

So you just came across a pop up showing “Screen Overlay Detected“, and you’re wondering what to do and how to rectify it, aren’t you? You’ve come to the right page, we’ve got a complete fix on how to rectify this error and you can enjoy the app you’re trying to start. I’ll explain how to turn off screen overlay detected in your Android phone in very simple steps, read on!

Screen Overlay Detected Error : How to Fix It?

Screen Overlay Detected : What is Screen Overlay?

First let’s talk about what is Screen Overlay in Android, so that you’ll get a good idea on what the hell is happening!

If you want to try a simple fix, you can jump to this method & try this method first. Click here.

Method 1

Even the common file manager app, ES File Explorer is causing this it seems (most probably because it has RAM cleaner built in now), better switch to Solid Explorer! And by the way, the data they show cleaned are mostly fake and RAM cleaning is not required for Android (I’ll talk about this in a different post:) ).

This must solve the screen overlay detected Android error on most phones.

UPDATE 2:

Method 3

This is one more method you can try on your phone if the above two didn’t work. This method uses the “Safe Mode” feature in Android. Follow the below given steps:

  1. First of all, note the app you’re having this issues with. (For e.g., if it’s WhatsApp, remember that).
  2. Now, press the power button of your phone.
  3. Press and hold the “Power Off” option on the pop up now.
  4. After holding it for 4-5 seconds, one more pop up will come, asking you to enable “Safe Mode”. screen overlay detected method 3
  5. Click “OK”, the device will reboot in Safe Mode.
  6. Now, when your phone has turned on, go to Settings, and then to “Apps”.
  7. Here, scroll down and find the app you were having the screen overlay problem, click on it.
  8. On the app page, click on “Permissions”.screen overlay detected error
  9. And on the Permissions page, enable all the permissions the app was asking previously. solve screen overlay detected error
  10. After this is done, reboot the phone.

Done! This must definitely work on most devices. Do let me know if the above steps works on your phone!

NOTE: The above given methods are for stock Android (Nexus, Moto, and more). For Samsung & LG the options are little changed, but you can find the “Draw over other apps” option by using the search in settings. Check below to find out how to fix screen overlay detected error in various brands :

Screen Overlay Detected Samsung

Here are the instructions to solve screen overlay detected in Samsung phones. It’s a little different than that of normal Android phones, because Samsung uses custom interface, “TouchWiz”. Here are the steps for that.

  1. Open “Settings” on your Samsung phone by clicking the gear icon in the notification drawer.screenshot_2016-12-19-21-49-13
  2. Scroll down and you’ll find “Applications” menu, open that.screenshot_2016-12-19-21-49-45
  3. On “Applications, you’ll see “Applications manager” option, click on that. screenshot_2016-12-19-21-34-00
  4. Now press on the 3 dot menu on top right of the screen, here you’ll see the option called “Apps that can appear on top”, click on that.screenshot_2016-12-19-21-34-08
  5. You’ll see a list of apps that has the option enabled. Disable each of the app from this menu.screenshot_2016-12-19-21-35-28
  6. Now you can go on and open the app you were trying open (which Screen Overlay Detected was showing).
  7. Come back to the “Apps that can appear on top” menu and reenable all the apps you’ve disabled previously.

One more thing, in Samsung phones, one handed operation can also cause this. So if you’re getting screen overlay detected pop up while you’re using one handed operation, just turn that off from settings and try.

That’s it, you’ve now solved the screen overlay detected error in Samsung phone. This method will work on phones with the latest version of Touchwiz/Android Lollipop+, including flagships like Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, Note 7 and other mid tier phones such as Samsung Galaxy A9, A8, A7, A5, A3, J5, J7, On 7, On 5, etc. If you’re having any difficulties, you can just comment down for help.

NOTE: If you’re confused with the steps mentioned above, do watch the video below explaining how to solve the screen overlay error in Samsung phones.

UPDATE 1 : I see a lot of people are commenting below of the problem not solving in Samsung devices even after trying the above steps. I might have found one more fix for the issue. Try this method only if the above given steps have failed.

The one common issue I found out in Samsung is that some of the system apps and features uses draw over other apps option. Like the Samsung’s default feature of one handed mode can also cause the screen overlay detected error. Follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings, and navigate to “Display and Wallpaper” option.
  2. On the next page, click on “One handed operation”.
  3. Now on this page, click on “Side key panel”.
  4. Turn off the toggle button on the next page.

Now try to install your desired app and check if the screen overlay pop up is coming.

If not, just thank me 😉

If it’s still coming, do comment down your model number, I’ll try to get a solution for you.

Screen Overlay Detected Motorola

Motorola devices has vanilla Android UI, which means you can just follow the method I mentioned above. This will work for all of the Moto devices such as Moto Z, Moto G4 Plus, Moto G4, Moto G4 Play, Moto G3, Moto G2, Moto G, Moto E, Moto E2, Moto E3, E3 Power, Moto X Play, Moto X Style & Moto M. But the process is a little different for Moto M chinese version, as it’s using Vibe UI from Lenovo. You can use the method 1 from above for that.

Screen Overlay Detected OnePlus

I’m having a OnePlus 2, so the screenshots you can see above is taken from my phone. It works for all OnePlus devices such as OnePlus One, OnePlus 2, OnePlus X, OnePlus 3 & OnePlus 3T.

Screen Overlay Detected HTC

HTC is like Samsung, it is having their custom Sense UI on top of Android. For HTC, you can just search for “Draw over other apps” on the search bar in settings to find the menu of apps that has draw over other apps feature enabled. You can continue as we mentioned in the above steps. You can use this method to remove “Screen overlay detected” pop-up on most of the new HTC devices such as HTC 10, 10 Evo, 10 lifestyle, HTC One M9, One M9s, One M8, One x9, HTC Desire 10, Desire 10 Pro, Desire 830, One A9, etc.

Screen Overlay Detected LG

LG is also having custom UI over the top of Android, although they haven’t named it like Samsung or HTC. You can follow the method I mentioned above for HTC to turn off screen overlay in LG devices. The method will be the same for newer LG devices like LG V20, V10, LG G5, G5 SE, LG G4, LG X5, X Max, X Mach, X Power, X Style, etc.

UPDATE 3:

Method 4

Here’s a simple app that can solve your problems. It’s called “Install Button Unblocker” you can download it from Play Store, we’re linking it below:

install button unlocker

  • Starting the app, you’ll be asked to turn on the service.
  • When turning it on, you’ll be asked to allow accessibility feature of your phone and permit draw over other apps permission for this app. It’s required because by using those, they’re able to override issues caused by other apps.
  • Now, after turning this on, you can continue what you were doing. Like if your WhatsApp was asking for permission and you’re not able to give that, just turn on “Unblock Install Button” and try doing it again. It’ll work.
  • And when you use the help of this app, you’ll see a small lock icon near the Install Button or permission grant button.

PS: Do let us know if this worked for you, I’ve tried on some phones and worked flawlessly.

Apps known to cause Screen Overlay Detected Error

So I mentioned above that some apps can cause this issue on your phone. Here is a list of all the apps that might be causing this error, with or without a visible overlay.

  • Clean Master
  • DU Speed Booster
  • ES explorer
  • Xender
  • UC Browser
  • 360 Security

The above list of apps are the apps I noticed will be causing, without a visible overlay (or pop-up) of any kind. If you’re having any of the apps included in the above list, I would suggest you to uninstall it and look for an alternative. You don’t need an alternative for cleaner or anti virus apps, they’re just useless.

Below given are the list of apps with a visible overlay causing screen overlay detected pop up message:

  • Messenger
  • Twilight
  • Bluelight filter
  • Sfilter

Screen overlay caused by these apps are normal, as they need that permission to show pop up (in case of messenger) or red screen (in case of Twilight & bluelight filter). Just turn off these apps or exit them if the pop up comes. You’ll be good.

UPDATE 4:

Check which apps are causing this in your phone.

Now, you might be wondering which apps in your phone is causing you this issue. You can easily check all of that using an app we’re listing here. The app is called “Alert Window Checker” which checks if any app is using Screen Overlay permission. Below given is the link to download the app, download it:

alert window checker

  • Open this app, you’ll see a button called “Status check of screen overlay”, click on that.
  • Now if there is any app running with screen overlay permission, it’ll detect and will show “[OK] Screen Overlay is not running” or [NG] Screen Overlay is running.
  • If it shows screen overlay is not running, you don’t have to worry or do anything.
  • If it shows screen overlay is running, it’ll also show the list of apps using this on that page.
  • Now, click on the app name shown, it’ll take you go app settings. On that page, you’ll see options to “Uninstall” or “Force Stop” the app. If the app is something you use alot, like Messenger, Force close it. If it’s not something you need on daily basis like Clean Master, uninstall it. Your problem will be solved.

NOTE : Do read the comments below by various visitors. That might help you if your error didn’t get solved already.

Conclusion

Hope these methods worked out for you, and now you can enjoy the apps you were trying to install without worrying about the screen overlay detected pop up ever again! Do share this page with your friends, if they’re also facing the same issue when installing new apps. Peace!

DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET

Step 1

Open the Start menu and click on ‘Settings’

Step 2

Click on ‘System’ on the next window.

Step 3

Now select ‘Apps & features’. And select Google Chrome from the list of apps in this page. And click on ‘Uninstall’. Click the ‘Uninstall’ pop up button to confirm your uninstallation.

Now, after you uninstalled Chrome, go to Google in Edge or Internet Explorer and search for Google Chrome and install it once again.

You can also try installing other browsers, if you don’t have any installed in your system. I would suggest Firefox or Opera. Click the below given buttons to download the respective browsers.

Method 6: Update Driver

If your problem is still persisting, it can be caused by the network adapter driver in your system. You can try updating the network adapter driver to solve the DNS Probe Finished No Internet error. Follow the steps to do so:

Step 1

Open “Device Manager” by typing in device manager in Windows Search. You can find the same in control panel too.

Step 2

In the Device Manager window, search for ‘Network adapters’ and click to expand that.

Step 3

You’ll find a list of options! Find your Wireless/WLAN driver from it and left click on it. Click on ‘Update Driver Software’ option.

Step 4

Click on ‘Browse my computer for driver software’. Next click in ‘Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer’

Step 5

Select your network hardware, and click Next. You might need to have the WLAN Driver CD with you for this. If you’ve the driver CD with you, please put it in the CD drive.

Step 6

If the driver update is successful, you’ll see that in the next screen. If it’s done, your problem will be solved and you can try connecting to the Internet.

Method 7: Uninstall any Web monitoring or filtering application

If you’re having some kind of web monitoring or filtering application installed in your computer, you can try disabling or uninstalling it to find if it’s causing the problems. Some custom firewall applications such as COMODO firewall can cause this issue. Try disabling them and check if your connection is working. If it’s working fine after disabling that, continue to uninstall the app from your PC.

Your Windows Operating System is by default embedded with Antivirus Firewall. When you enable this feature, it is likely to cause some hindrances in internet connection and create some issues related to it. There are many such programs available on the web, and you can find the most suitable one and install it for your system.
